Improv for Mental Health

Improv for Mental Health

? Improv for mental health is a playful pause for your mind. Let's play, laugh, connect, and breathe together.

This 2-hour session in a smaller group setting is all about boosting your mental wellbeing through the joy of play and improv - no stage experience needed!

You'll explore fun, low-pressure improv games that help reduce stress, increase connection, and bring you back to the present moment.

⏰Where and when:

Thursday August 14th from 6:00-8:00 PDT.

Location: La Maison de la Francophonie

Room 228 - 1551 W 7th Ave, Vancouver, BC V6J 1S2.

Accessibility information: This room is located on the second floor of the building. There is an elevator available.

There are gendered bathrooms available on the first and second floor. Please reach out to us at [email protected] with accommodation questions and we will do our best to support your request!

? Payment is by donation: We would like to make this session available for anyone who would like to join, so please pay what you can. Funds from this session will be used to cover the rental cost of the space and materials needed for this and future sessions.

✨ This session is for you if:

You want to maintain or improve your mental wellness
You're curious about how play and creativity can support mental health
You're looking for connection, joy, and maybe a few unexpected laughs
You've never done improv before - or you have and want more of it!
? What to expect:

Warm-up activities to gently activate body and mind
Simple improv activities (solo and in groups) to boost creativity and joy
A safe, welcoming, non-judgmental space - no performance pressure, just play
Time to reflect, share, and connect with others
Who is organizing this?

Hi!!! We are Elaine, Caro and Ingrid ! A group of friends who have been improvising together for several years, and we want to share the benefits of play and improv with our communities!

Ingrid is the founder of Griottes Polyglottes, a not-for-profit organization that aims to drive social change through play.

? Head's up

This is not a therapy session - but it can be deeply therapeutic. We're not analyzing, diagnosing, or fixing. We're simply playing, feeling, and connecting.

? This is an inclusive space, with room for all intersecting identities.

Come as you are. No need to "be funny." Just bring your curiosity and willingness to try.

Harassment or discrimination will not be tolerated.
